Locum Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) Job Description And Requirements
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals to develop anesthetic plans for surgical and medical procedures.
- Perform preoperative evaluations, review medical histories and order necessary tests.
- Administer anesthesia under anesthesiologist supervision, ensuring patient comfort and stability.
- Monitor vital signs and adjust anesthesia as needed during procedures.
- Manage airways and ensure proper ventilation during surgery.
- Provide post-anesthesia care, including pain management and monitoring in the recovery room.
- Document relevant information, including medication administration, patient responses and complications in medical records.
Qualifications
- Must possess certification as an Anesthesiologist Assistant from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) or equivalent certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- An active and unencumbered CAA license in the state of employment (if a new license is needed for your assignment, Aya Locums can help).
- No flagged or under investigation licenses.

Education Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field such as nursing, pre-med or biology.
- Master of Science degree in Anesthesiologist Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in a hospital or surgery center setting.
- Experience with a variety of surgical procedures is preferred.
